The premed committee in our school asks for 5 LOR's (3 from science professors, 2 from outside).

My 2 outside LOR's will be from a surgeon I shadowed and from a nurse in the hospital I volunteered.

3 science:
1 from a bio professor
1 from o.chem professor

For the last one, I can either ask another o.chem professor (I had him for o.chem lab and am currently tutoring the tutorial class for his o.chem 2 class) or I can ask another bio professor which I just started doing research for her (she's also my bio professor at the moment).

Which professor should I ask? I met both of the professors at the beginning of this semester so I will ask them by the end of the semester. Is it good to have more LOR's? If yes, should I ask them both or just one of them in case I may need another LOR for my secondaries.

Thanks 🙂

PS: I'm a chemistry major

In my opinion, you should ask neither of those two professors. You've already got biological sciences (org chem, bio) covered. Why don't you have any physical sciences (gen chem, physics) writing you a LOR? From what I can understand, it's a good idea for your science letters to have some biological sciences and some physical sciences professors to write you a letter.

I was thinking of that too. But both of my genchem and physics professors asked me to write down my activities and what I enjoy to do etc. So they are most likely to write a LOR based on those. Well, adcoms will see them in my application anyway?
