Is this the best place for this question?

I'm thinking about who to ask for recs for this coming summer. I'm out of college since May 2009. Do you need to use pre-med committee frmo undergrad in this case?

My PI/boss will be someone I ask, the coordinator of a community service organization where I volunteer, two hard science professors from college.

The two I am waffling on are the following: I had a non-science professor who mentored me through 4 years of undergrad, who I took multiple classes with in a humanities minor, and who knew me best of my professors in college (I had solid relationships which science faculty, too). I just don't know, being nearly two years out of college at the time of application, how valid their contribution would be.

The second is the regional leader of my church with whom I have worked with for the past year on an event planning committee. I've heard it recommended not to use clergy, but since this is someone who can vouch for my leadership and work ethic, I am considering asking them.

Thoughts?

I think a pre-med committee should still be able to help you. I would call them to check because that would make things easier on you. As far as the other letters, I think any of them sound good. You need two hard science professor letters and one non-science, so it sounds like you have that covered. The letter from your pastor would probably be good, but may not add a lot since your other letters are strong. You can get several letters and submit them all to AMCAS and then decide which schools to send them to when the time comes, so it never hurts to have extra letters. Schools have different requirements and preferences, so you will be sending different letters to each one anyway.
