Hey so I've searched this and couldn't find anything. I had the same OChem TA for two semesters and I'd like to get a rec from him.
2 Questions:

1) is a letter from a PhD student held equally in regard to one written by a professor. I go to a school with 25,000+ students so getting to know professors is difficult

2) I've heard some people getting their TA to write the actual letter and getting the prof to cosign/sign it. Has anyone done this? I'm inclined to go this route but I also don't want to offend my TA since he's writing my letter.

Thanks!

I've done #2. Tell your TA that it's best he writes the letter because he knows you best, but that the professor must sign off on so med schools accept it. The TA shouldn't give you any trouble, and nor should the prof.

Go with option 2 for sure. I highly doubt your TA will be offended.

Thanks so much for your replies. for option 2: who should I get the professors approval to cosign the rec or ask my TA first ... I guess the whole logistics seems a little complicated.
