I'm trying to get all of my crap together NOW so I can send out my apps ASAP for the class starting 2012. I plan on applying to Minnesota, Nebraska, Marquette (Wisconsin), Creighton (Nebraska), Arizona, and Iowa.

I know the most LoRs you can submit through AADSAS is four. I have talked to two science teachers that have agreed to write for letters me. I would like to use my employer and my family dentist to write the other two letters for me.

My question is do I NEED to have a third LoR from a science faculty member, would I be better off with three, or is just two OK?

Check with the schools you want to apply to. Some schools only want 2 LOR from science professors, but a certain few might require that all 3 are from science professors. If you end up having 5 LOR, you can always send the fifth one individually instead of through AADSAS.

Depends on the school. And I'm not sure sending more LOR than the schools require is always a good thing.

I applied to most of the schools that you did and the only one that even required more than one LOR from a Proffesor was MN. Do what ever the school says. Most schools i talked with said they read the first ones they have to and if there are more, they skip them.

I had four letters of recommendation. 2 science professors, my long time family dentist whom I shadowed, and the dentist I assisted for. This was enough letters for me and met the requirements of the schools I applied to. I don't recall coming across very many schools that required 3 science professors. Best thing is to look a their requirements because if they do require 3 science professors then you will have to get another one.

If it comes down to needing to get a 5th LOR there is a way around this with aadsas. Go to your pre-health/dental advisor and see if your school does comittee letters. The schools comittee will write a review letter of you and then they can attach within their packet all of the letters that you have. This means the only person sending something into aadsas is the comittee and the your other letter writers will just send theirs to the committee (atleast that is how my school did it.)👍

Thank you to everyone that replied! 🙂
