Hey y'all,

I'll be receiving a LOR from a biochem professor during this next semester (Fall). I'll be applying next summer, so I was wondering how one stores letters during a latency period such as that. Where do they go, and how are the letters sent to AACOMAS if they were written like 8 months prior to application?

Also, I have a general question about committee letters. They appear to be composites of all the other letters you recieve (professor, employer, etc). So can schools see all the letters attached to the committee composite letter? I suppose I'm just worried that the contents of the letters wouldn't be communicated properly, but I guess I should trust adcoms to know what they're doing lol.

As far as DO LORs are concerned, should they be included in the committee letter?

I apologize for the mess of a post. Thanks!

I am also interested in how these things are done. Thanks to anyone who can answer these questions

Sign up for Interfolio (a website) which will hold your letters confidentially and allow you to send them out next year.

Committee letters vary between school. My UG had a scheduled interview and essays (similar to a secondary) and then they composed one "committee letter" based off of my grades, MCAT, essays and interview.

DO, MD, and employer letters are all separate from the committee letter since they aren't affiliated with your university.

In my school, you send all of your letters (does not matter who wrote it) to the PreMed Office and then you tell them when you are expecting to apply (they usually recommend to start sending letters one year before you actually begin applying, so that they do not lose any letter) and they call you for an interview to write a committee letter. The Committee letter *package* includes ALL of your rec letters along with the letter from Office.

I think I am rambling, hopefully it makes happens?!
You should inquire with your school's premed office. On the other hand, I am wondering whether MD schools would see a DO letter negatively.

My school does it the exact same way. I'm just scared that they won't favorably recommend me seeing as I don't do everything exactly they way they suggest. They're actually really out of touch.

I'd forgotten about Interfolio. Thanks! I think I'll be sending all my letters to my pre-med committee, however.

I did not still visit my premed office since the last time they told me I can not get into a medical school and suggested me to consider a different career. So, pretty much in the same situation as you. I will get in touch with them when I get the GPA and show them how they were wrong about me. Anyhow, I think committee letter is the best way to go.

They're sooo out of touch, but I guess that's what you get when you have a bunch of people who never took the MCAT, applied to or attended med school telling you how to become a doctor. These are the same people who suggest we "just take the MCAT to see how you do." -_-
