Hey Everybody,

There used to be a downloadable spreadsheet with a list of schools and their required LORs. Can anyone link me to it please? It was very helpful last cycle.

Thanks,
Bill

Would be interested in this as well.

Here you go! I found it yesterday, and I hope you find it helpful as well.

Do make sure you cross-check the information, as they are 4 years old.

Awesome! Thanks very much!

I'd strongly recommend using the msar and going through the painful process of googling School name: letters of recommendation. I believe a bunch of them have changed and they also give you upper limits. it's not fun but meh 🙁. I've had to do it 3 times for a huge number of schools 3 times before submitting. the first two times it took like a day ;______;. I really wish med schools made a compendium of what they require.

I actually relied on MSAR for some of them when I couldn't find what the max some schools took on their websites. Most schools say like "We require x," but I usually want to send others that I thik are strong too D: I'm not sure how accurate MSAR is though...!

no worries, I did the same thing as you. I'm sure it'll work out at the end. I'd send like all your strongest ones if the school doesnt specify

I believe a committee letter would fulfill >95% of schools' requirements

Crapola! Is this list accurate? I already submitted my AMCAS. I have 3 LOR (all from sciences). 4 of the 19 schools I applied to require non-science as the third (1 requires it to be an employer). A 5th requires a third as a non-science AND a fourth letter from faculty or an employer. Is it too late to request a letter from my employer and have him send a LOR on my behalf to these schools? Or do you think if I called each school directly and inquired about it, they might be okay without it? I had a committee letter in Undergrad, but because it's been a few years and I've been doing a post-bacc program, I recently asked 3 science professors to write a letter of recommendation on my behalf -- I'm not taking any non-science classes.

Better than that, most schools often state that they need a set of specific letters OR a committee letter; in other words, if you're able to get a committee letter, you can get by with any number of science/non-science/extra letters.

As for the schools where you don't meet requirements, I have two suggestions. First, contact the schools by phone and see what they say. If you ask for a letter now, you should be able to get one by the time that schools start reviewing applications in early- to mid-July. Second, some past school-specific threads indicate which schools are more/less flexible about letters of recommendation (I recall Einstein, NYMC, and Jefferson contacting applicants to request specific letters, for example), so checking over these might give you some idea, as well.

Yeah, though pre-med committees are often a pain in the butt, the committee letter fulfills all LOR requirements for all schools I have looked at (20+). That really does help so much.

very often calling schools helps. at one of my schools they changed a letter requirement for me, though this was after I was complete and had neglected to carefully follow guidelines
