I will be using interfolio to collect my letters from letter writers. TMDSAS strongly encourages you to have your TMDSAS ID on the LOR in addition to your name. However, will this look bad if I am submitting that letter to AMCAS schools as well. Should I tell my letter writers to write a version with and without the ID and to submit both and if so will I be able to differentiate these in interfolio?

I don't think it matters either way. They encourage you, but I doubt anyone really cares if it is on there. I believe AMCAS limits you to 10 letters, so if you double up every letter you might be limited. That said you can put both AMCAS and TMDSAS IDs on the letters and no one would blink an eye as they just assume you are applying to multiple medical schools and not just theirs. Personally, I would not put either ID on there as that is just one more thing to annoy LOR writers with.

I would disagree with this. There is a perception that some AMCAS schools have that good candidates who are Texas residents would choose in state schools over their out of state school due to the very low tuition. Having TMDSAS ID on letter would be adding to that.

Since you have to transfer letters from Interfolio to AMCAS or TMDSAS via their respective ID, having the ID number on the letter is redundant

I had assumed that since you list what state you are a resident of on AMCAS , having an ID on a LOR would merely be duplicative.
