Ok so i have a couple resources for my reccomendation letters because i have shadowed worked with interacted with many DO's

the main one being my uncle, will it be bad if they get a rec from a family member?

also

is it worth anything if the letter writer is an alumni from the school? as the schools i want to go to i have worked with some doctors who graduated from there.......


lol im asking a lot of questions these days, u can tell the preassure is building!


also, wud it be worth anything if i sent TWO( or more maybe like 3?) DO letters of rec? whats a good number, i feel atleast two i should be able to send?

You are right, it is a bad thing to send a LOR from a family member: they dont like that. Some of the adcoms have told me that they want the providers of the LOR to be as objective, regarding you as a potential med student, as possible. I sent a MD letter (I come from a place where very few DO's practice) and I sent a DO. I would think that one strong DO LOR should definately be sufficient. Some schools may like the fact that the DO is alumni, however, I am sure that alot of adcoms are aware of many students thinking this same thing and may very well be impartial to it at all: it would have to depend on the school I imagine. On the contrary, I addressed the family member question at an open house. The admissions ppl at the school encouraged it.... thank god for that cuz this is my #1 choice, and the family member is W E L L known

hm, confusing

i was thinking ill send one from a doctor who attended the school AND send in the family member one as well, because the family member was the one who i legitimatly put in most work with, it says so on my accomas as well, i said i mostly worked with him and then others as well.


OR should i just call the admissions office and ask them?
