Can we submit our PharmCAS application before our letters of recommendation and transcripts have been received? Will colleges start reviewing them or will they wait til PharmCAS has everything.
Thanks a lot!
I'm taking the PCAT tomorrow... but I got a decent score in August so I'm trying not to stress out much... good luck to all!

Would there be any advantages to submitting your application to pharmcas sooner even though your LORs and transcripts aren't there?

Actually, I believe that PharmCAS will send your application before your LORs are completed. However, they will hold your application until all transcripts are received, they do not calculate your gpa until the transcripts are in. I am not sure about the benefit to submitting now if your transcripts aren't in, maybe if your schools have approaching deadlines (Nov. 1 for some). I guess there is also peace of mind that once you are submitted, PharmCAS will put you in line to mail out your application when your transcripts arrive.

The following was taken off the PharmCAS website:

PharmCAS Mailing of References
PharmCAS will begin to forward your references to your designated pharmacy schools once your file is complete. PharmCAS will NOT hold your application for missing references.

PharmCAS will consider your application complete and begin to process it once the following materials are received:
  • Complete PharmCAS application
  • Sealed official transcripts mailed directly from every U.S. and Canadian postsecondary institution attended *, AND
  • The correct PharmCAS application fee
Also send letters of reference, foreign transcript evaluation reports, and test scores (PCAT, TOEFL, and TSE) to PharmCAS by the application deadline, if required by your designated pharmacy schools.

That is the correct interpretation of the rules and it happens in real life.

My schools had the PharmCAS application long before my final LOR finally game into their offices.

Is there any recommendation with regards to waiving the right to access these? Would schools prefer that we waive the right to access them or do they really care?

Thanks, I think I probably will waive the right then, does anyone else have any opinions regarding waiving the right to access your reference letters?

I waived my right, too. I feel that recommenders will write the most honest letters if they know they won't be viewed by us. I really do not have any objective information on how pharmacy schools perceive this, my guess is that they would prefer them to be waived as well for that reason. But I also doubt that not waiving your right will get you rejected, however, the schools may put less weight on the letters. Just make sure you pick references who like you and request a "good" letter from them. 🙂

Oh...Anybody knows if I have to send the test record of AP exam from high school to PharmCas since I got level 5 on that and it will substitue my Cal I class in college...Thanks

You won't have to send it to pharmcas. Just list Calc on Pharmcas as an AP and if your schools want the report, the schools will contact you directly to send it to them. One of my schools did this.

PharmCAS won't accept AP score reports. I went ahead and contacted the schools I'm applying to about whether or not they wanted them. Some schools do, others want you to wait until you get accepted.
