Here's my situation:

i started working as a cashier/pharmacy assistant about 4 months ago. When i first started working we had three pharmacists at our store, but one of the pharmacists' contract ended so she went to a totally different retail pharmacy. And another just transferred to a different location and had to leave our store. Now, the head manager pharmacist is the only original one who watched me learn from the beginning. And i planned on asking the manager pharmacist for a LOR from the start since i learned a lot from him and i respect him as a pharmacist a lot. However, i recently found out he will be retiring by the end of this year (he's worked as a pharmacist for nearly 45 yrs!). 🙁

So my question (lol, sorry it took an entire story to get to my point 😛 )- when submitting to schools that require a LOR from a pharmacist will a retired pharmacist count as well.... or do they want it to be a current licensed pharmacist?

i want to ask this soon-to-be retired pharmacist if i can. i just hope he won't mind writing one after he leaves the whole pharmacy practice (he's very intimidating and sometimes difficult to approach, yet a supportive guy).

To be completely sure you have to ask the school you're applying to. I don't think most schools REQUIRE a letter to be from a pharmacist, they just recommend it. Even if the pharmacist just retired I'm sure he/she would still qualify, I mean they still are a pharmacist you know.
