I am applying for admission for Fall of '07. When should I request my LOR's??? They are needed for secondaries...but do they need to be written specifically for each school that requests them? What is the proper manner for requesting LOR's in a timely fashion? Should I ask now, or wait to see where I'm accepted (since some schools have their own particular forms they provide with secondaries to be filled out)? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Now! It could take professors a month plus to get them done. Whatever you do just make sure that they will be there when or just after your completed secondary makes it back to the school.

If your school has a service to keep your LORs, then get one account and start to ask LORs from your professors or physicians. Otherwise, go to Interfolio.com to get an account to keep those letters. This way, you can send your LORs to any place at any time you want. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, search for "Interfolio" in this forum (use the search engine), there was a thread about that.

Most of DO schools will accept Interfolio. I remember I read somewhere saying that one or a few schools don't accept it. So search in this forum and call the schools to make sure. If you apply all DO schools, I'm sure the chance of Interfolio acceptance is very high. 🙂 Good luck.

3) what is the verdict on personalizing the school...so you would need to
have prof's write multiple different letters?

1/ No. You will send LOR's to each school.
2/ You don't have to, but it's convenient for you in term of management. It's easy for your professors because they only send one copy to the service. It's easy for you to send LOR's to each school. Remember, LOR's can be lost on the way to the school. If it's lost, will the professor be willing to write and send it again ?
3/ If you choose not to use the service, then "Yes", your professors have to write multiple letters and send them to each school.
