Hey everyone, I've gotten myself into a bad situation. I'm a low stats applicant 3.2 33M with a big upward trend. I finished my last year of undergrad with a 3.8 and sustained a 3.9 through a year of post-bacc. I'm currently in the EVMS SMP class. My committee letter won't be ready until the first week of October, and my secondaries have been sitting for two weeks already. I have my LOR's ready in interfolio. I don't know whether or not to wait for the committee letter or just send the LORs now through interfolio and be complete at most of the schools. I don't know if it'll hurt me more to not turn in my committee letter since a lot of schools prefer it.

Hi,
I was sick of waiting for my incompetent committee, so I did seperate letters. I contacted them like 4 months in advance, and they still have not completed the committee LOR. So far, I've just sent them in seperate through interfolio. Most of the schools seem to accept that. There was one I had to write a letter for explaining why I sent them in seperate.

As long as you didn't apply to any schools that "require" a committee letter if you are at an undergraduate institution that has a committee, then you should be fine. If someone else from your school applies to some of the same schools that you applied to with the committee letter, you might have to explain why you didn't go through the committee and it could be seen as a negative. If you are a graduate student, the committee letter is something of a "non-issue".
