So both SCCO and UCBSO require 1 letter from an OD, and recommended 1 from an extracurricular advisor and 1 from a professor.

With 4 possible LORs to send, I have 2 LORs from OD's, and 1 from an extracurricular advisor. Does the professor LOR have to be a science professor? Because I have had better relationships (and can get a better letter) from non-science professors (English prof would be my best bet).

I realize that some schools require a science professor LOR, but can anyone tell me from experience if having a non-science prof LOR instead will make a difference at SCCO and UCBSO? Thanks.

Hi. I was at the admissions workshop for SCCO recently and the topic of recommendation letters came up. Dr Munroe said that in all honesty, recommendation letters DO NOT weigh very heavily. They primarily are just looking for red flags like "i dont know why this person asked me to write a letter" or "not a very good people person". Otherwise, almost all letters are gleaming and gold so they all sound about the same.

Haha I was also at that workshop, I'm actually the guy who asked Dr. Munroe about the LORs at the beginning, but I totally forgot to ask if one was required from a science prof. But judging from her response, I agree that it probably isn't a big deal for them.

Get your english prof to write it if you think you're more comfortable getting it from that person.

Good luck!
