So one of the individuals i had write an LOR is in europe for the next 6 months for various educational programs and whatnot. As a result, he cannot be contacted at the address/phone given on the LOR. Will the school try contacting him? also, if they cannot get ahold of him, will it hurt my chances? (it took me 3 weeks for me to get in touch with him), thanks

I doubt that the schools contact the profs, unless there is something suspicious about the letter or they wish to discuss/clarify a certain issue...But i think you can either let your schools know that your professor will be out of country or hope that they will send him an email. Honestly, i do not think you should be worried.

thanks I wasn't sure. like I said, it took me over 3 weeks just to get in contact with him. i tried e-mails and phone calls and i was starting to get worried. keeping my figners crossed everything will be ok

So then, just to be sure, call/email the programs and let them know. That definitely will not hurt.
