are some you out there feeling what im feeling. studying a lot, but not with the same passion i did in undergrad.
You studied with passion in undergrad?

I studied "with passion" in undergrad so I could make good grades and get into med school. Now I'm in med school, and no matter how hard I study, I know I'm not gonna ace the test. It's totally different.

I agree with you guys. I thought I was a big time gunner in undergrad. I wouldn't just try to get an A but shoot for a 100 if possible. Now in medschool, there's SO MUCH to know that I can't hack it and am only doing marginally well. Something else to keep in mind is that there was quite a bit of free time in u'grad to refresh yourself and relax. There's no such time in medschool, so there's that burnout factor. Plus all you are learning is human science which can get a little boring after a while.

I am not learning to ace tests now. I am learning so that I actually know crap so I can be a good doctor. I am also learning so I can do well on the boards. So far it has worked out. We get our overall weighted numerical average and I would have an "A" by those standards. Just think of it as self improvement.

I study with passion now....I can't afford not to, since I have 200K worth of loans on my a$$.

Undergrad, sweet undergrad! [sight] 🙄

I think I still study with the same passion I had as an undergraduate. I really love medical science - it blows my mind. It's just not as rewarding because of the massive volume of information we are expected to retain. Kinda makes me feel defeated at times...

Yo weirdoc,

I think it is because you just got done with the Physio block...I am pretty sure you didn't say that after Anatomy block.....Drs K, and G would be disappointed if you did 🙂

Now enjoy the next 6 days....the BUGS are waiting for us in the next block 🙂

My motivation is slipping but more due to financial/reality type reasons. I started medical school with an idealistic attitude about patients and medicine. As I start to see how things really are that's been weighing me down some. But even more than that... as I cross the 200k debt threshold for M3 year (by the end of M4 year I will be at least 250k in debt) I am really beginning to lose my motivation. The thought of actually having to go into a speciality just to pay off my loans... just the whole money factor. I hate how much influence money and the cost of education has on this whole process and it's really getting me down... more than any of the academic stresses.
