I seem to have lost all will to get good grades (B+ and above) after being accepted to pharmacy school. I have all my pre-reqs done (finished them in fall) and am just finishing up this semester to get my bach degree. I feel weird not caring about getting good grades and even see myself being fine with getting C's.. something I have never done in either hs or undergrad yet. Anyone else having this fatal case of senioritis and have just lost all motivation to study and finish strong? I cant even focus on finals its so bad. How bad do you think a pharm school will look down on a bad last semester.

I think we're all at this level in some way or another. I finished my degree last year, but I'm taking classes for my MBA and some science pre-reqs I don't need anymore. All I really care about is starting pharmacy school, but I'm trying to make A's and B's even though it's really hard. I'd rather be studying the top 200 drugs than care about this stuff anymore. lol

If you read the fine print in the accepted student handbook or whatnot, some of the schools reserve the right to rescind acceptance if your grades change "markedly." To me, this means if you have a 4.0 and then pull 2 C's, they can axe you even though a C is normally fine for a prerequisite. Maybe the only reason they accepted you was that 4.0...don't take any chances, the difference between that B and C is probably less than 2 hours of studying per week if you always got A's and B's.

I feel the same way! I feel so lazy and not wanting to even go to class, however I still have one more prerequisite course to finish so the only class I care about is that one prerequisite course. You stated that you are already done with all of your prereq, if that's the cause, then I think getting C's and B's will affect anything. If you have received a conditional acceptance for the school, then for the remaining classes you will only need a 2.75 GPA (this is what it said on one of the letters the school sent to me).

This is a normal reaction to accepted students. Do not worry, you find back motivation when pharmacy school starts. Just make sure you relax before school, because once you start school things will be crazy.

I feel the same way. It takes a great deal of effort to make myself study. Like Tink, I would rather be studying the Top 200 drugs than pouring over what I am going to write for my "Women in Music" essay. Talk about "riveting" subject matter... LOL so, many of us know how you feel. Just stick it out the last couple of weeks. You can do it.

This.

I feel the same way as well. I have some motivation to study, as I'm taking classes that are required or helpful for Pharmacy school come fall: Micro, my second semester of Physiology, etc., but for my Physics II class, it's so hard to study. We had an exam a week after I was accepted to Pharmacy school, and I'm sitting in a cramped lecture hall, taking my exam... about halfway through, my thought process changed, "Okay, so if I am given theta, I can use it to calculate the... I DON'T CARE, I DON'T CARE!!!!"

I did practically the same thing, I had an Organic 2 test the day before my interview....I am surprised that I did well because all I could think about was the interview...

The next week, I got my acceptance the night before a physics 2 test. I kept trying to force myself to study, that was a joke! Thankfully she gives us the formulas (or at least the ones we can derive it from) so I managed an A...a low A but since we aren't +/- system that part didn't matter.

Now I have only a physics final to study for...I dug out the notes yesterday...that was as far as I got... Thankfully, a 50 or better and I will get an A, lower than that a B....thank goodness I did extra problems assigned early on before pharmacy school fever set in.

For my physics classes *Physics I and II* we are/were allowed a "cheat sheet" for every exam. You can put whatever you want on it. It's nice. And I definitely did NOT get an A on my physics exam.

I have seniorits bad too!!!...lol but I'm still getting A's...I don't let the seniortis stop grind!!!

You're not alone!

I've even called to inquire about getting a "D" on a course that is not a pre-req. She said it doesn't matter and won't affect my admission to pharmacy school 🙂 And for some reason, a "D" is considered acceptable for my major. Go figure 😛

I don't have a "D" yet but if worse comes to worst (like I don't come to class anymore and skip all my finals), I will end up with 2 Ds

This is comforting lol. Yea at one point I thought a D was possible in one of my classes and I was surprised to find out that my major also accepted D's! I have never heard of that. Most likely I will end up with 2 Cs which im not happy about.. but neither is a pre-req class. I will call and ask tho cuz im sure all schools are different. I have never had this hard of a time studying in my life.. not even senior yr of HS. I hope I come back from summer refreshed and ready to own pharm classes.

yes, it seems a "D" is considered passing but not acceptable if you need it as a pre-req for another course. ie, if you get a "D" in orgo 1, you cannot take orgo 2. but since the courses i am taking are "end of the line", a "D" will suffice

Actually, it's more geared toward the pre-req's they need from you. If you bomb pre-req's, they will rescind. If you bomb non-pre-req's, it's not a big deal. Depends on the school.

I'm just fighting to get C's right now!

I think I have the nicest physics professor in the world. She gave me three points on a problem that I did completely wrong, when I asked her it was because I picked one of the equations I should have used to solve it. I would have had a B on that test, but since one problem was worded "unclearly" then she gave us all 10 points for it, even if we didn't choose that problem!

OMG .. I don't wanna lose my motivation over the next three weeks; I need to get an A in org chem II or I'll NEVER FORGIVE MYSELF; I am on the border between A and B (90.8%) 🙁 ..

I managed an A in Orgo II even with a motivation deficit...now just have a physics final left to deal with.
I am SOOOOOO glad I don't have three weeks left. Three weeks would slaughter my grades at this point.

Most of us have been really exhausted over the grind of school for awhile now. I still manage to motivate myself for A's, needless as they are, even though I dread studying and going to class. I hope my current feeling of "burn out" fixes itself once I get to pharmacy :xf:

I got 4 more weeks left. I wanna get the buck out here too, know that. You just gotta think of everything that you've worked towards to get you to this point. I keep telling myself it's the last 50, don't trip.

I completely agree!!! I have a histology lab final this week, a few papers to write, and then finals next week (science classes: histology, o-chem, ecology) and I haven't even started studying. Screw it... we already got in!!! Who cares? 😛

LOL... My letter says that I have to send my transcript reflecting my performance once the grades are available, they check on us :scared: lol

Only one more biochem exam and one final paper for my fine art class  then my undergrad/post bacc career is officially complete. Gaaaawwwwdddd... Counting down the days!

Cooool!! That must be exciting.. Congrats!!🙂

I have ZERO motivation now that I am accepted. It doesn't help that I was only in school this year to take pre-reqs for my 2nd and 3rd choice school. I got denied from my 1st choice last year so I tried again and thank God I got in! Of course I could have just stopped going to school this last quarter but I decided I would take some classes I was interested in like Health Psychology, but I am doing absolutely no studying which makes me feel a little guilty.

I have one undergrad coarse left before I graduate that I am taking this summer. As I am waitlisted, I cannot share the bliss of acceptance and subsequent complacency with anything non-pharm. However, the last class I have to take this summer is a 200 level humanities gen ed course that is required yet I overlooked. I'm going to be reaching deep in june for the motivation to study for that class.

You wouldn't happen to be waitlisted at Ferris, would you?

OK, I have intense motivation to get straight A's regardless of acceptance. So what would you say to the program if your grades tank? I just could not do it. Getting accepted makes me work harder if that is possible...I just wish the semester was over so I can immerse myself in studying drugs and pharmacokinetics.

Signing off this forum...just two weeks to go to finals!

Good luck to those of you still waiting. 😍

Where are you going to be in the Fall, Endospore?

Minnesota unless I get pulled of the Wyoming waitlist! They only take 20 out-of-state in Wyoming and split it by gender so your odds are only 10, then they interviewed 240 this year and waitlisted 79.

Nope, I'm waitlisted at Sullivan COP. If I don't get pulled off I'm applying to UK and Cinci next year. I would have applied there this year, but I had to choose this year between graduating with a bio degree or take more pre reqs to apply to more schools.

Preach Kanye! lol 😛

Mine just says I have to make a C or better in any pre-reqs, but since I'm working on my MBA I have to at least make B's to pass. I dunno why but average isn't passing for some reason for those classes.

I have no will to do well either. Im just worried about staying above the 2.7 that Lecom requires.

When I said that I was slacking off, i meant that i'd be okay with settling with a B in some of my classes... which i don't consider to be tanking (and neither does my school of pharmacy)

I am surprised you took my post this way. Wow, I hadn't even read what you wrote. Do you typically take all postings personally directed at you? Serious thin skin here...

I have my OChem 2 final on Wednesday night and haven't started studying yet. I know I only need a 2.5% on the final to pass the class...but still...

No motivation whatsoever. Just want it to be September already so I can start pharmacy school!!

Thats exactly how I felt for all my classes.. I was calculating what % exactly I needed to pass and studied accordingly. But, I do not want it to be September yet.. im having too much fun enjoying the feeling of having nothing to do! -im lazy

. im having too much fun enjoying the feeling of having nothing to do! -im lazy

i havent been this lazy since high school!

oh and i kept complaining that i gained wait while interviewing/waiting to hear back from schools. definitely was not anticipating the all-i-do-is-eat-and-sleep routine that has taken over my life

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. It's even worse for some of us that are on the quarter system. My quarter doesn't end until June 19th!!! I might just do an early mental shutdown and take a B or a C in Ochem. As far as I'm concerned...the ends justify the means. 😀
