Lost an Interview, should I email/call to get it back

I received an interview at a school, and they gave me a date. I typed out my confirmation email, but I was waiting for a professor to move my exam from the date. My professor did not agree at first, so i was going back and forth with him. By the time he agreed, I had forgotten to send out the drafted email. I got an email from them saying my interview is cancelled. This is one of my top schools. Is it too late for me. I emailed but I got no response. Do I call instead?

😱 call them, plead, beg, and donate a kidney if you have to. for future reference, set the interview first then haggle with the prof. if the prof doesnt agree, go to the dept chair, if he doesnt agree then drop the class and retake. No point in losing out on a lifetime opportunity (no undergrad class is worth it.)

really smart advice, the thing is, i already had the exam moved for another interview, and i was worried he wouldnt move it again. i ended up going to the department chair anyway

im not trying to be a jerk, im just telling you what (in my opinion) is worth more. you can always retake a class, you cant really get an interview back (hopefully you will!) either way man good luck, just focus on interviews as a #1 choice. im ditching a couple of classes for interviews w/o knowing if I have exams or if the prof will even work with me (i can tell he doesnt quite like me) but i dont really care because I need to get into a school first and then figure out the situation with my current courseload. just my 2 cents.

The professional thing for the school to do would be to give you an interview. It's not like your credentials for an interview changed and they're no longer good enough. Just call them and explain what happened, they should set you up with a later interview date since you are still genuinely interested.

Please have some respect for the professor dude. He finally agreed to move the test date. My prof didn't even do make-up exams but I still think he is a nice guy.


The OP specifically said that it was his fault that he forgot to send UMDNJ the drafted email.

Thanks guys for your input. Yesterday I spoke to them and they said there was nothing they could do because the wait list was too long and that I would be reentered into the applicant pool. Today I got another invite from them for a few days after my original date. I don't know how many of you guys are religious, but I definitely feel like someone is watching over me.

👍 agree dude, if its meant to be its meant to be. just in the future, schedule that interview and think bout the professor/test later.

its going to be Nov 14th as opposed to the 11th. I have 7 other interviews, which is why it was so hard to get my professor to change the date (I had already asked to move the first exam, and a paper due date). and your right, im gonna stay focused on the interviews and worry about the professors later

wow good luck there bud! what other schools? when were you complete? any chance of creating a predents profile and sharing your wealth with the SDN community?

how early did you apply? good dat score.

sometime in June, but everything went out on July 4th, so im guessing thats second batch (not 100% sure though)

nice makes sense you got all those interviews and damn early too! whats ur #1 choice? make a predents profile this way your stuff will be up there for others to see Because its good to contribute back to the SDN community.
