Had my pitt interview today... why does it seem like all the dental school students are married? And don't give me the whole speech about how dental school is about training you to become a competent doctor and so for four years you must become a hermit, yes, I know this. However, I want to go out and party it up now and then. How much of the class on average is married with a million babies?

ill go party it up with you.. dont worry, a lot of the kids in your class will be 21,22 also
 
That's the feel i got at UMDNJ.. every1 is in his/her late 20s and early 30s. One of students told me her class had 7 babies this school year already.. oh dear god.. it's only October. Can we not become baby popping machine just yet.. i'm still 16 at heart 🙁. I'll party with u too lol
 
you can party with the undergrads... remember guys, girls who are +2/-3 are all legit (given they are 19+)
 
As long as there are some single ladies at my school, I don't care about how many couples and "baby popping machines" (as lazybummy so elegantly said) there are.
 
I'll look at your baby pictures, but I wont have a baby with ya.

But yeah I feel the same way about the married peeps.
 
In defense of us old folk...

I'll probably be married by the end of dental school and can drink you under the table anytime anywhere! 😀

Average age of first year dental student is 24, so do the math.
 
Hey now, dont count us married people out! I'm married, have no plans on having kids ANY time soon, and am more than willing to go out and have a good time! Just because you are married doesn't mean you spend your free time sitting at home watching the news
 
I have to agree. I might be married, but I will party you rookies under the table. My wife and I are always into something; just because we are married does not mean we are dead.
 
LOL.....I dont think this started as a contest to see who could drink more because honestly who cares. Some of the best people to drink with are people who cant hold their liquor! I have to say that I was somewhat surprised at the amount of married people as well. My buddy started DS this fall and said almost half of his class is married. I guess I was more surprised with the amount of young people that are married with kids already. I cant see myself getting married or having kids til Im at least 30 but thats just me. I do agree by the way that many married people are a lot of fun to go out and party with but lets be honest, the majority that I know are not.

haha I'm a girl and I don't want to party with undergrads. I want to party with like minded intelligent people within the medical profession. 😀

:laugh::laugh::laugh: I am 24, well I will be in December and I have no desire to get married for quite some time. I want a few years after dental school to be a young single professional with no responsibilities besides my massive debt

Never seen it. Despise TV. I don't see what's wrong with having fun with your colleagues. The dentist I work for goes out with his staff every friday after work and it's always an awesome time.

haha my interview there is next week and it's my top choice. I'll hold you to that promise if we both end up there! :laugh:
 
o god I didn't even think about this, I'm going to be seriously looking out for 21 and 22 year olds at interviews, I've taken classes with tons of older students and I always feel like a little kid haha

Hopefully there are a bunch of people who like to party and go out at my dental school, thats why im leaning towards tufts or nyu (more people the higher the chance)

And its great when everyone is on the same page, cuz when you need to study so does everyone else(well everyone who does good) and when you have freetime, most likely so does everyone else. It'll be PERFECT, ahh cant wait 😀

Also hoping for pretty girls🙄😉

Well i say that because in high school people said you will meet The One in College. College rolls around and a lot of boys are still immature and people said you will meet The One in grad school... SO... if the previous statement is not true, I might have to get arrange-marriage-d. Let's not go that route.

And since one of my major criteria for guys is INTELLIGENCE... well it seems like the admissions committee already helped narrow my choices!!! =D

HAHAHA yeah I was totally looking forward to dental school and meeting hot guys that knew a thing or two about the krebs cycle. I got NYU and UMDNJ next week so I'll be on the prowl for rings haha.:laugh::laugh:

I'm just waiting for these sdn gunners to scold me on how I should be focusing on being a good dentist and not hot dental school boys. Just havin' a little fun kids.

I am a D1 at Pitt, I don't think there's more than 15 people in our class that are married. While it is true that less married couples show up at house parties, the D1~D4 students still get together and have a good time. On a side note, I think at least 1/3 of our class is still in some sort of relationship (though that hasn't really stopped anyone from going out). If you're looking for true party schools. Look into UMich or USC~ Good Football Programs = Fun Schools

Yo i don't wanna get married till I get into Dental School and Graduate! Shoot if I find some other cool guys in my class maybe we can be like Entourage....or not....

I mean seriously you're right. UMich has a horrible football program and I mean why would you go somewhere only for the athletics. I tried that for college and I'm happy but C'MON!!!!!!!! In DS you don't have time for fantasy football or tailgating. At least for 4 years...lol
 
I hated parties (the bad music, getting drunk, playing beer pong kind) in college. I hope grad school parties are somewhat more elevated than that. The students we talked to at the Penn interview tried to sell the school on the social angle and I thought, "Getting smashed with your classmates on weekends isn't worth close to $90,000 a year."

If time permits, I hope to join/start book and hiking clubs in dental school. At least one gets to meet people (and potential partners) with similar interests without the buffer of alcohol and lame social conventions. I hope this post doesn't make me seem like a loser; I'm not totally opposed to having fun :laugh:.

As for marriage, maybe I'll consider it until I feel that I've enough life experience to settle down.

I agree with the party thing and just pointlessly getting hammered. Some Iowa students tried pulling the same crap. But book club without alcohol...... man what a loser.

I'm a senior in college and just recently (about a month ago) met the most amazing girl. She's a year below me, so it's gonna be rough when (if) I head off to dental school next year, assuming we're still together. Any dental students try the long distance thing?

I'm not planning on getting married until after d-school either. Why is everyone getting married so young anyways? I think being committed is nice and all, but I don't know how people can handle school, work, socializing, and taking care of a family(especially those with kids). Married couples are still fun to hang out with, but let's be realistic, they'll rather hang out with people of their own type(couples) than with single people.

ughhhh....I hate that phrase...there are some serious misconceptions about being married....settle down---when your ready to have kids
 
NYU has so many hot guys!!!! If I can afford the tuition there, it's my top choice.
 
I am just curious, can having a relationship REALLY work out while in dental school??
