so i took the DAT last year studying with my old notes and text books, with a small aid of my girlfriends 2 yr old Kaplan book (2005/2006 ed maybe?) for a QUICK review and the practice questions (did pretty good for only studying a month - 19/20). well, i'm taking the DAT again so i decided to buy the newest Kap book mainly for the quick notes and maybe some new/different questions and a CD and PAT problems, etc....

but HELLLLL NOOO!! that book is EXACTLY the same as it was 3 years ago...WTF!?!?! could they at least give you some new questions or something!?!?! and to top things off, the friggin CD doesn't work because my "virtual memory is too low" 😕. now i'm A+ certified and last i checked, running XP pro with 4 Gigs or RAM and over 2 terabytes of hard drive space with a 1099 FSB is WELL more than what i need to run some petty little flash program....

HONESTLY!!!:scared:....... <--you know it's bad when you start laughing at a problem

sorry guys...i had to vent. i'm not taking the test til May, but i'm graduating 10 days before then, trying to finish my research, and plan a backpacking trip all before i take the test. hope all ya'll are doin good! 😎 but seriously, you feel me?!?!?!

This is why kaplan is archaic for the biology, RC, PAT and QR sections (except for those ungodly hard math word problems.) The blue book does do a good job with gchem and ochem though.

duely noted....haha.

so you would say that the math in that book is harder than the real thing....it's been too long...i can't remember...

Kaplan's idea of research and updating the blue book is composed of deciphering the current year, and throwing a new cover (with the new year) onto the same old, antiquated review text.

Kaplan is fine for chem, though I am still a large supporter of the MCAT hyperlearning series for the chem sections, and a good chunk of the bio section. A bit overkill, but when studying for an exam like the DAT, why not shoot beyond the bar ?
