Low (3.6) gpa and mediocre ECs.

While your ECs aren't bad, they're not really top 20 material by themselves. I would estimate that you probably need a 520+ MCAT in order to be somewhat competitive for top 20s (but by no means a sure thing). A 517 or 518 would make you competitive for several mid-teir schools. ~505+, you're fine for DOs. For MD in general, 511+ is probably fine.

Of course, this speculation means nothing right now. You should take the MCAT with the intent to do as well as you possibly can, then come back and we can make a school list.

Any service to others less fortunate than yourself will suffice.

Want to take a year off to either be an ER scribe or wilderness guide with troubled teens. Any ideas on gap years?

Newest DO schools? 500
ANY DO school, and maybe your state MD school? 506-508+
Mid tiers? 513-514+
Top 20s? 516+

Also, what kind of MCAT do I need to be looking at to be competitive for Top 20s, mid-tier schools, and DO schools?
