low g.p.a: advice needed

some I'm stuck here with a g.p.a. of 2.93 cum and 2.67 science....did well in the DATS

AA 19
PAT 20
BS 21
OC 18
GC 19
RC 21
QR 18

do I have a good chance?? I went to a really tough school, that's why my g.p.a is soooo low, but my last yr i transferred to a much easier state school and my g.pa. reflects that...im a minority, graduating with about 150 hrs, and some community service. my letters of recommendation should be good...but thus far it looks like I only have a fair chance at Howard and Meharry, or is that wishful thinking too????? how are my chances on getting in this cycle?? please be honest. ur opinion matters much to me guys......

Those DAT score looks ok
However, if I were you i would retake the DAT
The fact is, I have 3.25 GPA, 3.6 GPA on my last 3 years 22/22/21 on DAT and I still have trouble getting pre-dec interviews ( I am pretty much done for Tufts and BU for pre-dec)
You should really do a master program to boost your GPA

Do more volunteering and research
Basically, whatever you can do to make your resume stands out

well where all did u apply??? cuz Meharry's and Howard's GPA are like 3.0-3.1...and their average DATS are 15-17. I know I have no chance at Tufts or BU...but maybe the ****ty one..also. do they have a carribbean programme for Dental????

you have to remember its not all about numbers! my stats arent the best, i got a Tufts interview first day they handed them out....

OP: are you URM? If not there is no chance at meharry or howard! Work on getting your EC's up and sorry to break it to you that DAT score is OK not great, since your GPA is low i would probably suggest a retake....with only 1 science section over 20 and a 2.67 sci gpa it looks bad and shows a correlation, but thats just my opinion

Well I went to Miami University of Ohio...I realized it was a tough school when I transferred to University of Kentucky. and its a cake walk to get A's at UK...schools have to rate the g.p.a. along with the caliber of the institution.

URP??? does that mean under represented minority?? well i am of Indian origin. but of Canadian nationality. I guess there are alotta Indians in the field..but could I use my canadianess as a qualification for being an underrepresented minority?? cuz with my g.p.a. and DAT it looks like im only eligible for Meharry and Howard. but im not eligible for being the "wrong" minority? but theoretically canadians are underrepresented. would i be able to pull the minority card on the basis that canadians are a minority in the u.s. in general, and it's healthcare system???

LOOL!! no you cant mold the term URM to what you think fits it best....and honestly if you do some SERIOUS work on your app you still have a shot at a ds......by the way if i didnt answer you, NO you are not URM lol I wish it worked like that

lol thats weak..now when u say serious work, does that mean more schooling??? or take the DAT again?? or community service (GOD I hate the idea)????

ps. this minority bull**** is not fair. i tried applying for minority scholarships as an undergrad and got rejected for not being the "right" minority. (got a full academic scholarship tho 😀). I order to give justice to a few the system is unjust to more.
