Hello SDN peers! May I ask for your guidance on my situation?
I graduated from undergrad 1 year ago, B.S. Biology (AMCAS: cGPA 3.2, sGPA 3.0) (AACOMAS: cGPA 3.2, sGPA 2.99). I had volunteer experience and some medical assistant/little scribing in the past. Have not taken MCAT yet.
Currently in my 2nd gap year and have 3 options now:
1) Become an RA, work full-time, tutor intermittently, volunteer at clinic, and take DIY post-bacc courses at 4-year institution, take MCAT in 2021 and apply broadly to DO/MD (and possibly SMPs as back up, if I do not gain admission).
2) Attend formal post-bacc at SFSU for 1 year, volunteer/shadow, take MCAT in 2021, apply broadly DO/MD.
3) Become a scribe/medical assistant, DIY post-bacc at 4-year institution, volunteer, take MCAT in 2021, then apply.
In your opinion, what option would increase my chances in the future?
Thank you for your time, I appreciate it 🙂
