  1. Pre-Dental
I am completing my MBS and I don't have the best GPA (~3.4). I have a degree in biology (~2.87) and I haven't taken the DATyet. I have a ton of research as well as EC. Shadowing and Volunteer hours are stellar. I also have a ton of work in rural and underprivileged areas. Not to mention.... I am also an URM...

WHAT SHOULD I DO????

SHOULD I APPLY???

Any advice is appreciated...!!!

Where should I apply???

Are you in your last semester of your MBS? Make sure you finish really strong to bring up your GPA. Typically if you complete a masters with the intent to "redeem yourself" to dental admissions due to a prior low undergrad GPA, they want to see a minimum of a 3.5. With that said you want to make sure you get higher than that to rule out any chance of being thrown into the "maybe/hell no" pile(s) since that appears to be their "average" bar for masters applicants. Besides this point, when do you plan to take your DAT? During/after your masters? How long do you plan to study? Have you researched information about the test to the extent that you KNOW exactly what this exam is testing you for? The answers to these questions are incredibly important towards how your experience with this exam will be. For instance, going into studying for this test without prior knowledge of what's involved with it is a bit of a setback. Take it from someone who found that out the hard way. Not only will you be studying the concepts, you'll also be learning what the DAT is as you go, which can be time consuming. This can be extremely detrimental if you have other distractions going on (ie: Class, work, holidays with the family) and a rather short time frame to study. If your masters GPA is merely average, your goal should be to do as well on the DAT as you can. And to do this make sure you give yourself ENOUGH TIME to study for it. Don't take it until you're ready. This may seem overwhelming but you shouldn't feel that way. Just FOCUS on what you need to do, stay on top of whatever schedule/plan you have (even revise it if you need to), and don't give up. 😀

How many credits do you have? You need to sit down and do some number crunching. You need to bring that MBS up to at least like a 3.7.

URM with those stats and ur fine...

otherwise, u need 3.5 masters GPA to be competitive.
