Hi, I am currently a senior looking to graduate this semester.

My GPA is 2.8 which is I certainly believe that it is a weak number.
I am looking to graduate with B.S. in Biology

My other activities or volunteer service are:

Eboard member and founder of one of the Medical Association in my school
Over at least 200 hours of Volunteering including around 50 volunteer hours at hospital
Vice president in Soccer club

No MCAT socre
No GRE score yet

I am having hard times trying to decide whether I should stay for another semester or summer school to enhance my GPA at least up to +3.0 or just move on. I know this would mean more time and money but I am willing to do so considering my age 22.

Or I have though of moving on to post bac programs or graduate school for Masters degree in Biology.
I am worried if post bac programs will accept me with my low GPA. What are the range of undergraduate GPA for students who attend post bac programs?

I am very worried that I will be carrying this set undergraduate GPA of 2.8

Can anyone give suggestions?
Should I move on?.....Or should I fix my GPA before moving on?.....
Am I at a terrible situation right now as a pre-medical student? .... 🙁

Post baccs are for raising your GPA (or people who never took science classes), so I don't think there is usually a cutoff. Master programs usually have the cutoff of 3.0 that I noticed in my searches.
If you want to do a Masters that has a cutoff, you can do a post bacc/stay an extra semester then apply for the Masters.

It's really up to you but definitely raise your GPA!

How would my GPA be calculated with my undergraduate GPA of 2.8 and if I achieve post bac GPA of 3.6 ?

Do medical schools look at undergraduate GPA and post bac GPA separately?

Even though I improved in post bac, is my low 2.8 undergrad GPA weighted heavily in this situation?

I believe it would be calculated the same way it is now, by credits.

Just wondering, what is your science GPA?

Lots of people have low undergrad GPAs, then rock their post bacc/MCAT and get in!

Easiest route will be to retake all F/D/C science coursework and apply DO. For MD, you'll need to do that, and do a post-bac or SMP, PLUS do well in the MCAT.

In the mean time, fix whatever deficits are causing you to have a non-competitive GPA.

My science GPA is also very similar which is 2.9 ...

Do medical schools look heavily on undergraduate GPA?

I am worried that even if I perform will and get higher GPA in post bac the undergrad GPA will pull me down...

It will pull your total GPA down but you can only do your best, right? Get your GPA above 3.0 and apply DO.

Do you mean to go on to post bac programs and pull my GPA up or stay at my school and enhance my GPA up to 3.0??
