VR 8
PS 7
BS 11

im really upset about the PS.. Last year I got

VR 8
PS 9
BS 8
P

I can not imagine myself taking the MCAT again.. at least not for another year... and I am applying for this coming cycle but that 7 really sucks...

Some schools Im applying to are
VCU
Cincinnati
EVMS
UVA
Drexel
Louisville
Temple
George Washington

I'm applying for some DO's too but would much rather get into an MD program....

- I am a VA resident
- My EC's are great, couple hundred hours of hosp volunteering, was a clinical research coordinator, interned at an orthopedic ctr for a summer working 40 hrs a week, currently a lab tech at a neuro lab and a scribe in the ER, working full time.

Does anyone know if these schools screen out anything lower than 8s, and do I have a chance at all?? My LORs are also good...

Also depends on GPA.....if its above 3.6 then you should not have problems....did u take any prep class to prepare for MCAT??

oops GPA 3.6 with a big upward trend, BCPM 3.85... i took kaplan last year but the whole mapping approach didnt work out for me... I was really surprised with my PS because I was doing very well..

If your goal is to get into an MD school, retake the MCAT. I don't think a 25 and 26 will get you in, even with a 3.8.

If your goal is to become a physician regardless, apply to more DO's and apply broadly.

While your MCAt is admittedly weak, you are a solid candidate based on all
your other experience. Your professional experience (especially being a scribe on the side) will set you aside from people fresh outta school. It's not a matter of if, but when you'll get into school man. My gf was literally in you same position. Keep grinding at the stone!

Cincy, Louisville and Temple have heavy in-state preferences. Your MCAT scores are not competitive for these schools as an OOS applicant, so you should consider removing them from your list.

Consider adding RFUMS and NYMC.

In state is your best bet. Stay positive you can get into medical school this cycle just make sure your primary and secondary show your desire to be a physician, show a real interest in the program during your interview and apply early. The earlier the app the better your chances.

Have you considered waiting until next year, improving your stats, and applying to Virginia Tech's new medical school?
