Low MCAT schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Even then a 24 isn't all that good for DO.

Well yea, but his chances are significantly better at DO. I'd venture a guess than 24 is a 35-50 percentile MCAT for DO and a <5% for MD.

I'm lazy, but quantify all the HBCU, multiple that by 150-200 and compare it to the amount of people with stats on the grid.

113 people in that range accepted in 2009-2011, so ~38 a year. Nothing in the world can convince me (nor should it convince anyone else) that those 38 people each year didn't come from HBCU's.

No one with a 21 MCAT is getting into a university that isn't an HBCU, not when you have URM applicants who are much more qualified to take the positions at other universities.

+1

There is just too much SDN hype on the whole MCAT thing. The average of most schools are around 26. Now if the average is 26 then there have to be around 50% applicants that are selected below 26.

OP may not be competitive for DO schools but his/her chances are much better with the DO route than MD.

Hi guys,

Which MD schools may consider a low MCAT such as a 24 and consider the whole applicant rather than just cutting them out pre-secondary?

Is there a list of such schools?

Even though a lot of people are rearing off topic 🙄 Many are right/write/rite 😉 You probably will not get into a medical school(U.S.) with a 24. My 1st Mcat score was around that range, I revamped my study style, went "hard in the paint" for 5 months and boost my score by 9 points so it's possible URM or not. Although I hear people usually only score 1-2 points higher on retake 😕. If you are dead set on not retaking, then apply Broadly, check out one of the many under 30 Mcat threads as they can prove helpful, and keep in mind that you might have to sit out a year or two. Good luck.

Generally (there's an AAMC table) the worse you did on your first try the better you can do on your retake. Most people getting high 20s the first time won't improve by 9 points.

They won't mind your low MCAT.
