Hey Guys,

I took my OAT today and got really low scores. Not sure why I thought I'll be able to kill this exam with little studying (around 3 weeks for good 6 hours everyday). The questions felt super hard and knew right away I was getting a bad score.

I scored:
QR 260
RC 280
BIO 270
Gen Chem 290
O Chem 280
Physics 260
TS 270
AA 270

This was not an easy test for me but with good advice on how to study effectively and what materials will be the best for studying can help a lot on boosting this score. I heavily relied on Chads videos for every course and only took one practice exam before the test. Didn't touch my OAT Destroyer books which I highly regret as well. Ran out of time for my RC section, also found physics and bio sections extremely hard.

I have a 3.1 gpa so I do realize I need a very good score for my chances to get into any optometry score. Planning to retake the OAT and submit my application early as possible. Any suggestions and help would mean everything to me right now. I really want to do GREAT next time.

You'll have to find what works for you. I took the Kaplan class and it was meh (for me, anyways) but then I just started taking a practice test one day, reviewing every question the next day, and then spending the rest of the week studying my weakest areas. Rinse and repeat for 6 weeks and my score improved by 50 points.

My stats are very similar to yours
OAT: 290AA, 310TS
GPA: 3.30
I plan on finishing my application around mid september, but I am honestly so discouraged by my OAT scores. Anyways, best of luck to you!
Well your TS is up there so thats great! 🙂

Hey,

I took my OAT yesterday and scored 280 on TS and AA. I have a 3.4 GPA with 9 months of experience working for an optometrist. You guys think I have a chance of getting in at any of the schools?

You are who you are.Your low GPA and OAT paint a picture of a higher risk student who will have to work very hard to complete OD school and pass boards.

Doesn’t mean you can’t be all you want to be in the end but to manage risk you will need to work harder than the average student.Attitude will win the day in most endeavors and you will need a good one

Good Luck!
