Hi, I've just been pondering for a while about going to med school. I keep going back between med school and Physical Therapy. I'm a sophomore in college and I did good freshman, but am not doing so well sophomore year so far. I'm aiming for DO schools is it possible or likely to get into these schools with low scores? Thank you for your time.

It's so early in the game! You have a lot of time to kick yourself in the rear and start landing solid grades. And while I'm all for the D.O. route, it's too early to discount M.D.

Read up on what you will need to do in order to become a successful applicant for medical school. Go find a doctor to shadow and see how you like it. (But remember that shadowing one doctor will only provide a limited perspective of what the field is like). Talk to the pre-health professions advisors at your school. And treat EVERY class you take seriously. Aim for A's and don't look back.

You've barely finished 3 semesters of school. There is a lot of time to rack up a lot of A's from here forward, so DO IT! Best of luck.

Don't worry, as Dharma said its still waay to early for you to know. Figure out WHY you're getting these low scores (maybe you're not studying effeciently or you need a better way to prepare for exams, or maybe you need to get outside help) and spend the next two and a half years to creating a good gpa. If you have an upward trend, from now until you graduate, good ECs and shadowing experience and have a good MCAT score (I might get flamed for this, but start studying for the mcats very early), you should be competitive for MD and DO schools. Don't give up hope! Good luck!
