I am a turkish pre-med and I took mcat anbd got 6v 11p 11b.
I know it will be very hard to get in with this stats (BPMC GPA=3.67, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Major)
Can you tell me which schools have pre-interview filters that will eliminate me even before going to ad-coms. I know some schools have minimum acceptable scores in each section so I want to save some money by not applying them.

🙄

Anyway, to the OP: I think you should take the MCAT over and score at least an 8 in the V. I believe you can do it if you follow any of the advice posted in numerous threads in the MCAT forum.

Good luck!🙂

Waw, who angers you,
controls you, (I guess I do)

Move to a different web site, we are future doctors, we save life, we do not take it. Hopefully you will never make it to med school.

to the people who are putting this guy down, get a life he had no more to do with that then comparing you to the unibomber just b/c hes american, to the OP I also think you need to take it again, med schools consider the verb the most important part, but with ya other sats you could very well get in, b/c they are good, it also helps your an engineering major, good luck to ya

verbal is pretty important.. if u had 11 in verbal and 6 in science it probably would not be that much of a problem..

i would retake.. you could also consider just applying.. if you dont get in, then just reapply

hmmm I think a 6 in any section is a red flag. I also don't know why everyone is downplaying the importance of science scores. The bio section is highly valued by some schools like Stanford, whereas verbal scores are valued by other schools. Your science scores are good, but I would suggest shooting for an 8 in verbal. As for the schools that screen I know that OHSU will only look at out of state candidates with an MCAT score above 30 and a GPA above 3.6. As for the other schools I'm not sure about details in their screening process. I know there was an old link about Stanford's screening process a couple of month's ago, where they actually listed how the committee looks at an applicant. I think one of their top factors was Bio score.

i know an international student with a 3.9 gpa and a 28 mcat (12,11,5V) and got into mcgill med. (international just like any US applicant.)

go for it.

Did you only learn English recently? Is that the reason for the low verbal? If so, then explain that somewhere in your application. I think adcoms tend to be more forgiving of a low verbal score if the applicant only recently learned English (i.e. within the last 3-4 years). If that's the case, I think you're ok to go ahead and apply; I don't know what will happen, but I think you would have a shot. You'll need to show adcoms at your interviews that you can communicate well verbally in English.

If, however, you did not just recently learn English then I agree with the advice that's already been given; you need to raise your verbal score before applying.

Good luck to you!

Waw!?!?!?!?! Don't you mean Wow.....learn some English jackass.....waw waw waw.....this isn't some turkish bellydance for you to holler at. This is probably why you scored so bad in verbal.

Oh yeah, I don't care who tells you but the verbal by many schools is considered the MOST important section. Check out the AAMC website if you don't believe me.

I did make it into med school.....it's you with the low verbal that's not going to get in.....waw waw waw. 😀

Keep Talking Tamomo, I got you. You have 70 million of us, so you still have plenty of Turkish to hate. By the way this is not a place to talk about this anyway.
Thanks for all input. I will try my state school, I learned English 4 years ago and being engineering major did not help it either. But I always get 8-9 in verbal on practice tests
(kaplan, examcrakers etc). So I guess if I do not get in, I will take august MCAT.

Good luck. I think you will get in. I'm moving to Lubbock this fall. I'll have to find out who this Tomomo character is 🙄

I'm pretty sure he's starting at Texas Tech next month. I'm in the EDP there and will likely purchase a house this fall and move out. I've got to see who this joker is 🙄
