so i just got my 2nd mcat score and got a 25 (PS-10, BS-10, V-5, WS-N). my 1st mcat was a 24 (PS-9, BS-9, V-6, WS-O). do i still have a chanceof even getting an interview this late in the game?
Depends on your gpa and if you have a DO letter ( if its low and you don't then I recommend not applying). I could say that a 5 is going to harm you majorly, but many DO schools do not have actual automatic cut offs. I would say that applying right now ( presuming you're already verified by AACOMAS) and applying to every school ( except the ones who don't favor your region).
Summed up.. apply at your own discression because you're not giving us enough information to better assess your chances.
Please included the following
DO letter : Yes or No ( if no) -> MD letter : Yes or No ( if no then you'll be screwed in a lot of DO schools).
Cgpa :
Sgpa :
Clinical Volunteering hours :
Research hours :
Non- clinical volunteering :
State of residency :
hey so i have a sgpa of 3.6 and cpga of 3.5
-got a letter from a DO and 3 professors
-no research
-about 160 hrs. volunteering at a hospital
-tutoring underprivleged youths for about a year
-volunteer at a homesless shelter past 3 months
- volunteered for habit for humanity for about a year and a half
- hawaii resident
Well I guess you've got a shot. Apply to a lot of DO schools and you'll get in hopefully. Though unless you've got inherit reasons for not wanting to stay in Hawaii you should consider retaking the mcat. Since I think Hawaii's school favors in-state applicants very highly and is supposed to be pretty cheap.
I would try and find out which schools take cumulative MCAT scores and not the most recent...that 5 is going to get you screened out at the majority of those that won't consider your original VR score
