So I Have a lower GPA and am on the path to rectifying that situation (Still in Undergraduate) with more undergraduate classes and a postbac (hopefully SMP) afterwards.

Whats more important in terms of undergraduate classes - (and showing improvement) Science classes or Social Science classes or both.

I'm working towards a double major, but the second major is a social science and while it isn't pertinent to medicine and you can major in anything, if more science classes are benificial (since thats where the deficits in my GPA lie) perhaps it would be worth to take more science.

I am already finishing a BS in neuro soon enough - but since majors don't matter, and i am not far from the BA as well, which is the better idea? Complete the double major or just cram in as much science before graduation to make things look okay.

Since I am going for a SMP, I realize I'll get more science there - and a postbac (just more undergraduate classes in science) is not out of the question either. I know I need at least a 3.0 to even be talkin about SMPs ( and a good mcat)... This is why i posted in this forum...

Thanks.

Well as a double major, you should do well in both, that is get a 3.0 or better in both. However if you have a 3.7 in science courses, and a 3.2 in social sciences, than thats not all that bad either aslong as your overall GPA is decent.

For the most part, in terms of post-bacc, upper division science classes are more important. As an undergrad, both is fine, unless you show deficiencies in science classes. You ultimately just wnat to prove to them that you're not deficient in science classes, but also adequately well rounded at the same time. In the end its probably best to err on taking science classes.

Good luck!

If your GPA problems are in your sciences you should worry about that before you move on to a second major. Science classes are the most important which is why medical schools look at BCMP GPA apart from overall GPA.

The SMP grades will not count for you Ugrad GPA or BCMP GPA since they are graduate level courses. I think you should try to pull up the science average.
