I totally bombed the MCAT for various reasons. My score was at least 10 points lower than 3R, 4R, 5R, and 6R (All in the 30s). My GPA is 3.8, and I have great EC, LORs etc. I know the means for the schools, but what is the lowest MCAT acceptance you've heard of for a non URM?

Thanks!🙂

You can find on www.mdapplicants.com a whole spectrum of accepted MCAT scores. I think that will give you the truest sense of what is possible in terms of applying to osteopathic programs.
That being said, osteopathic schools consider more than your MCAT scores. Good grades in hard courses, finely tuned essays, and a broad range of human service experiences (healthcare too!)...seem to be other pretty big factors. If you have the above, your odds of acceptance increase exponentially...
Don't get stuck on numbers. I think that's the easiest way to assess yourself (that's why so many premeds do it), however, when applying to osteopathic medical school, I think it can be the most misleading.

i know how you feel i bombed too. But i'm an all around good student and have kick ass LORs and extra curricular activities/ leadership roles. maybe some school will pity us.... 🙁

I hope so. I feel so scared now that they will laugh and say next. 🙂

I dont like posting on message boards, but when I read this post I felt like I should say something to make you feel better. I was in the same situation as you. GPA of 3.8, everything else was great except for the mcat score. Was accepted other day, and I dont think they will be the only ones. The mcat doesn't mean as much as you think when you have excellent grades. Don't worry about it.

Thank you! I feel very hopeful now. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Just wanted to add my two cents....

I had a 21 on the MCAT and am currently a second year at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. I know for a fact that the lowest score the admin people will take to even get considered is an 18. But the average is typically around 24-25 on the MCAT

Chris

Yep, there are people at DMU with sub 20's I know for a fact. Average 24-25 though.

Thank God! No rejections yet, and 1 interview so far. I'm feeling better every day.

Marianne careful interpreting these #s. Most DO schools favor those applicants from their state or region. For example, the 22L that got a PA resident in most likely will not get an out-of-state applicant an interview. PCOM interviews only 1/9 out-of-state applicants, but 2/3 in-state. Furthermore, they accept 7/8 of those in-state interviwees but only about 40% of out-of-state interviewees. The final tally producing a 2:1 ratio of PA to non-PA residents.
