Hi!

I'm waitlisted at both of these schools and I was wondering if anybody has heard of any movement on either list? Do both of these schools rank their alternate students? Does Rush typically expect a lot of movement from their waitlist? I know they're running behind this year in interviewing and I'm afraid I don't have a chance.

Also, for waitlists in general, is it appropriate to call the medical school after May 15th and ask where you are on the list and the likelyhood of being accepted?

Thanks! 😕

Rush does rank their waitlisted applicants. In fact, if you call, they will tell you which tier you are in (upper 25, lower 50) and how many people are on the waitlist. They won't tell you your exact number, but knowing that they only interviewed ~450 and offered acceptances to ~300, you will have a pretty good chance of getting in. This info is straight from the mouth of the Dean of Admissions, Jan Schmidt during a seminar when I interviewed back in April. I am waiting to hear back and hope to God that I get a straight acceptance!!!! Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice. I just called them and they said they haven't ranked the list yet. They'll probably rank it at the end of the month. Good luck!

I was accepted to Rush in January and received an email two days ago asking for a reconfirmation of intent. We have until May 20th to reply. I'd expect the waitlist to start moving shortly after that date.

I'd guess there will be significant movement in rush's waitlist this year. About 50 people attended the second-look day. Given the fact that rush accepts mostly local applicants, that number is a good indicator of how many people intent to go to Rush next year. This also means Rush has to accept 70 more people to fill its incoming class.

Also, rush raised its tuition to over $38K this year. rush is now one of the most expensive medical school in the US. I bet a lot of people turned down rush due to this reason.

Thanks for the info.! It was very insightful! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I turned down rush for this reason. I love chicago, but the price-tag was just to much when I could go instate for a school of about the same rank.

Edit: and to think of the time wasted on those 10+ essays for that secondary, ARG!
