I know Shreveport has sent out their secondaries, I was wondering if anyone has received a secondary from New Orleans?

I'm a Louisiana resident, I submitted my EDP application to LSU-NO in June, AMCAS says that it was processed (a month ago)...I was also told that LSU-NO normally sends out secondaries the first week of August for EDP (maybe everyone). I know that both Shreveport and New Orleans send secondaries to all Louisiana applicants.

Anyone have experience with that?

I haven't received a secondary from LSU-NO yet, and neither has anyone else I've talked to. Granted, none of the people I know applied EDP, but we're all LA residents. It's still early though, so don't worry -- I'm sure it'll come out soon. Good luck!

You may have to wait as late as mid-september for LSUNO. Last year LSUNO offered a 1 month extension until Jan. 15 also. The application rounds here in Louisiana go much later than the rest of the nation for whatever reason. Everyone is always saying apply early and all of that but the earlier you apply to LSU schools the longer you wait unfortunately unless you are doing EDP.

It will come mid-late August. I am kind-of chuckling inside b/c I was in your shoes last year....I wanted to complete everything ASAP....which is a good thing. I had my stuff in early and ended up w/ an interview on 29 Sept. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Hope to see ya at your interviews.

Thanks for the insight! Do you know how it works with Aug MCATers? I'm happy because the late secondaries seem not to discriminate against us (sorry early people) but do you know about what time people started getting interview invites if everything's turned in before October scores come out??

Thanks!!

People got invites from the late sept all the way to feb-april-may time period. The earlier you take the mcat and get your stuff turned in the better. a friend of mine retook the mcat in august, got an interview nov-dec....got accepted the same time as me. Remember: The sooner-the better, so just bust your butt and get everything in as soon as you can. That includes your app if you use the LSU pre-med committee. You really have to get it in quick before it gets buried in their pile, which would then delay it getting to the schools you are applying to.

I applied EDP, even then I'd receive it mid-late August? They say on the website that a completed EDP application file is expected by Sept. 1.

I know I can turn out the secondary application quickly, but would they really give me 2 weeks?

You don't need 2 weeks...it's cake. EDP is the way to go. I didn't, but they interviewed more and accepted more from EDP for my class than any time in their history. Think interviewed 20...a.ccepted 10 from EDP

I spoke to one of the Ad-com members, told me they accepted upper teens this past year. So you'll be entering this year? I know probably 10 people in your class.

Who?

I called the admissions office today, just to see if they'd received my application.

They said this: "We won't be verifying that until August the 11th from 3-5"

So do you guys/girls think that's when they're sending out the secondaries?

When i called in July, they said that they would be verifying applications and sending out secondaries on August 1st....I guess everything is just getting moved back so i would assume secondarys will be out on the 11th along with them verifying applications. (Frustrating for those applying EDP!)

Nevermind...got mine in today!

Got mine today too. This school is my top choice. Good luck to all the LSU-NO applicants. Wish me luck too!

Would you mind posting generally what's on it and how much it costs? Thanks!!

The cost is $50
They ask mostly stuff that you filled out in amcas (address, prereq grades, parents info)
They ask for a picture and to fill out a questionaire (your community pop. activies, and top 3 medical choices)
Very easy to fill out, no essays, they send you a link to print it from but you mail it back in.

Has anyone tried typing on the questionaire? I was trying to fill out the work/volunteer section and the font gets bigger or smaller depending on how much I type. Also not enough room to adequately describe my responsibilities for any of my positions. Anyone have suggestions? Maybe I'll try it on a PC at work and see if that makes a difference.

That happened to me too. Were you in PDF or MS format? I tried it again in MS format on a PC and that seemed to do the trick--it just added to the space provided while keeping the font the same. Hope that helps! 🙂

Are any of you attaching an additional letter that likst your qualifications? What do you all think of that?

I didn't write one, hopefully it won't screw me, but I didn't want to say somethign I shouldn't...and I feel like leaving it out may be just as well.

I brought my application to the admissions office yesterday (EDP) , and they now have everything: Committee letter, extra letters of rec., and secondary + check / picture.

Now I just have to wait and see when my interview is (and pray to God they give me one)

Also....

My friend said he got his interview invitation in the mail on Sept. 4th, 2004. His interview was, I believe, the last week of September.

bump for LSU applicants (how'd it make it to the 3rd page in half a day)

I didnt attach a letter either. I kind of felt the same way....would could I have said that I didnt already say in all my other letters/applications. I turned in my application and I know they have my committee LORs because they confirmed that my application was complete. I have another LOR that should be arriving there pretty soon. Do you think they will wait till after Sept. 1st to start reviewing them?

Not really sure. I just hope I get an interview. How many EDP applicants do you think there are? I know they accept anywhere from 10-20.

I am unsure...all i know of is you and one other guy from TECH (that is where I go to school) and I know he graduated 2 years ago, but I am unsure what his stats are. I think thats all from TECH, surely there will be some from LSU. I was told that anywhere from 10-20 apply and they take anywhere from 10-15, so thats a pretty good amount. What do you plan on doing if you dont get in EDP....Do you think our applications will be really late for say LSUS or Tulane? But I guess even if EDP doesnt work out, we might still get accepted in the regular application pool. GOOD LUCK...its so nerve racking Haha

If I don't get in EDP for LSU-NO, I'm going to have my secondaries ready to send to both Tulane and LSU-S...probably acouple other places.

I'm at Tulane, and I have been told they are starting to look more at their graduates / in-state kids, due to alumni demand for Tulane doctors that are staying in state. So hopefully that would help me out.

I'm jsut worried about my GPA for EDP, not so much the MCAT. I feel like I should have some relatively strong LORs, and ECs...so we should find out soon enough.

Good luck to you as well.

No additional letter here...have nothing else to say that I didn't already.

I have a feeling we won't here anything until sept. about interviews.

Which reminds me I need to call Thurs. and make sure they have all my crap in.

Blebl,

I got a confirmation saying my application was complete. They sent it on a post card to my house.

Probably sitting in some trash can in New Orleans.

They are absolutely terrible with mail in this city. I went and dropped the application off to the Admissions Office for that exact reason.

Are you going to send it again?
