I had my interview a couple of weeks ago at LSU New Orleans and thought that it went very well. I just received a letter from the admissions committee stating that "at a recent meeting of the Admissions Committee, no final action was taken on you application" and that it will undergo a subsequent review. The letter also said that most people that are accepted go through a secondary review and that I most those people hear about their acceptance from Jan to June. Did anyone else receive a letter like this and does anyone know if it is a good or bad thing. It almost sounds like a euphemism for a waiting list. Any feedback is appreciated thanks.

The "no final action" is usually what is to be expected this late in the process. It is comparable to an acceptable list like Shreveport uses. They don't call it a waiting list because they compile an actual waiting list in May. This is the list they will pull from when people turn down a spot that was offered to them. For example, if the medical school has 10 spots available after the May 15 deadline, they automatically give those spots to the first 10 people on the waiting list. If one of those turns it down, the next person on the list gets the spot, and so on. I was on the "no final action" list last year, and received my rejection letter at the end of May, so I didn't actually make the waiting list, but I interviewed again this year and got in. If you don't make it, talk to Dr. Eubanks. He is very good at letting you know what you need to make it into med school. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Sactown, I got the same letter! I guess we'll just have to wait it out and see. Good luck to you this cycle. If not, we should definitely go see Dr. Eubanks. When did you interview? I interviewed the last week of March.

I interviewed on April 10th. I also posted this is the LSU-NO school thread if you want to look at the responses I got there.

In my letter it said that most people who are accepted undergo a secondary review. Does this mean that those people also receive that letter?
