I our exams get scanned into the library for almost every class and are available for us to look at...... to say that accessing old exams is cheating is ridiculous to me.
Sigh
🙄...I'm not saying that. Again, those exams were specifically made available to you as legitimate study material, so that's fine. But many profs I know don't want tests circulating [which is why they sometimes collect them but people always "forget" and "walk out" and give them back after they "remember" (aka copied it)], because then people won't learn it for themselves and just study the tests. And many of them do change their answers - its just a matter of studying the material vs memorizing answers.
In terms of seeing how a prof asks questions, that is why a prof should explain to the student how they are going to ask them, maybe give a few example question. At most. Part of learning is learning how to adapt. You can't be spoon-fed forever.
Yes, making tests IS tough. And when you have to make up large numbers of tests every semester, trust me, you're way to busy with tons of other things to make brand new tests every time. I don't change my questions for student rotations because if they are good questions, they should stay because they reflect the material, and I have a ton of other stuff to get done.
Bottom Line: Ask your prof if old tests may be used as study material. Because you don't want it coming to bite you in the ass. If she says yes, then fine - ask away and copy away. If she says no, don't go behind her back and trawl the internet.
Koofers is a pretty widely known thing nowadays I always thought....I mean there is a whole website:
http://www.koofers.com/ but it did start at VA Tech.
