Pros- >95th percentile for autopsy numbers and procedure experiences, lots of one on one time with faculty, only about 4 months of surgical path per year (not an overwhelming amount of grossing and a preview protected half-day), amazing hours, all residents have a life, usually only one at-home call (or weekend half day shift) for first years per month, rotate monthly between University, West Jefferson Hospital, Childrens, Ochsner, and Jefferson Parish Coroner's office, outside rotations available, flexible scheduling, book fund, paid parking, cable and phone discounts, AND you can take vacations one day at a time with 2 weeks notice, unlike most places which require all vacations to be determined months in advance and in full week blocks.
Neg- smaller program (9 ppl), molecular and neuropath weaknesses, though they are recruiting new faculty to address this.
