So I'm hoping for an interview call with Omnicare for a staff RPh position. Can anyone tell me what type of interview questions to expect ?
Also, anyone working in a staff RPh position at a chain LTC like omnicare, can you pls shed some light on how your day goes?
Thanks.

Well, most pharmacists stand in a spot all day with a little laser gun doing boring, boring verification.

Another one does order entry.

And one lucky dude actually goes out and does chart reviews. And just one lucky dude.

Basically, its like mail order. Unless its vastly different from what I experienced like 5 years ago.

I guy from my class works at Omnicare and he says he either does order entry or stands in one spot and verifies cassettes all day long. The monthly chart reviews at nursing homes is a different job title and usually specifically hired for that purpose at least at Omnicare.

sounds about right

good luck with that company, Ive heard bad things, but it prolly depends on location

I have a rotation at an Omnicare in a few months. The upperclassmen who have been there all loved it. They've done a decent amount of compounding (IV and otherwise), chart reviews, and were able to do a good deal of their year-long assignments. I've also heard it's casual dress unless you're going out to visit a site for chart review. I suppose I'll report back when I find out more.

My wife works LTC. Sit there, order entry, verification, call a few clarifications, shoot some breeze, goes home early when closing, calls me up on clinical questions then tell me what grocery I need to buy on my way home... I'm glad that my wife has a cushy job, but its operation is so ridiculous that it's funny. 🙄

Thanks, everyone for your input.
lorain, what u have heard abt the company? Would be nice to know both the good and the bad .

I'm practically salivating, because I wanted this job when an opening came up last summer, but the PIC mentioned SO MANY applications came in. The plus was that there was seemingly no on-call because that was a separate shift/dept. It was practically a mile from my home.

I

I am also expecting an interview call from OMNICARE. Does anyone know what base salary they will be offering?

from what I understood....LTC jobs are hard to come by, especially in nice area, b/c they are considered cozy jobs with little stress (although I think its a boring job verifying cassettes all day)

so if you are seeing numerous openings from one company, that should send a flag to investigate it further

In Ohio, my wife got $108k in 2010 for a staffing position right out of school. I think it's about the same in Texas and probably most of the Midwest.

Gambit78 said that there was an opening and they got numerous applications - which is pretty much what's going on anywhere nowadays. 🙄

Last year, I had an interview at a hospital out in the middle of nowhere, and the PIC said that there were 12 other applicants (and yes, he was going to interview all of them). I didn't get that job, and later found out that was probably a good thing because it's near a city with a very high crime rate, and it spills over to that town.

Thanks, maybe in 2012 is aprox. $110k, which is good considering the workload.

Or may be less because of the number of new graduates...

How did find the position and applied. Am interested in Omnicare too. Please share. And good luck to you.

just remember folks, any large LTC corporation can bring corporation problems that one can see from other pharmacy corporations...dont neglect that aspect b/c a ltc job is considered "cushy"
