what does that mean?

TMDSAS says:

"Advanced placement credit is accepted only if the college/university granting the credit lists the specific course(s) and number of units granted per course on an official transcript. Lump sum credit is NOT accepted."

I'm assuming it means that if my university grants me credit for all say, bio labs and lectures in the general biology series from my AP tests, and lists each lab and lecture in my transcript and and the hours given for both, then it counts towards prereqs....

right?

Correct

I don't really know of any schools that do the lump sum stuff

you're correct in the essence that that is how the credits are counted, but general bio AP credits are not accepted by med schools... check any med school website, go to admissions requirements, and scroll down the page (most schools include accepted AP credits on that page..)

a good number of the schools that i have looked into accept bio ap credits as prereqs, but it is advised you take and do well in more upper division bio classes as well.

On my official transcript it says,

CEEB Advanced Placement In:
American History 01:512:103:3.0

And so on, meaning that I got 3 AP credits specifically for "Development of The US 1," 512:103. If the transcript just said, AP credits: 25 or even American History: 3.0 and doesn't reflect a specific class, there might be a problem in applying.
