So I'm a commuter that a lot of times is at school from morning to night.

Does anyone have know of a website or book that can give college students advice about what to cook/make for lunch?

Thanks

This is my moment.

It's true that eating a rad lunch is important, but what's even more critical is the container you use to store your lunch. Let me be clear: a rad lunch box is essential. At my job, I easily have the raddest lunch box out of all my peers. Therefore I will be promoted the fastest. You will be amazed at some of the things you can achieve once you start taking a rad lunch box to school/work. Doors will open for you. Women will fawn over you. Treasure will be laid at your feet. Never underestimate the power of a rad lunch box.

Also I found this in 3 seconds on google: http://www.unh.edu/health-services/good_eats/contents.html

You're a commuter, so the advice geared towards college students (aka those who live in a dorm or have an apartment nearby) won't apply to you. If you've ever had a job where you got a lunch break, it's just like that. Make your lunch the night before and take it with you in the morning. Sandwiches and salads are easy, or you can cook something in bulk and refrigerate/freeze in tupperware containers if you have access to a microwave at school. Any cookbook or food website will do.

What I did for days/semesters with an all-day schedule: made two sandwiches the night before and stuck them in zip-loc bags, mixed up Gatorade in a liter-sized Nalgene and stuck it in the fridge, and dropped a few granola bars or slim jims in my backpack.

Also, try to figure out which campus student orgs give out free lunch on certain days; it's glorious.

+1
Especially the math department on PI day 👍

If you want food delivered while on campus, Grubhub is amazing.

This is so true. FREE hot chocolate in the morning is always a morale booster.

1) Buy glass containers with plastic lids.

2) Make chili or soup.

3) heat up.

4) eat

As a fellow commuter, I've had way too many days where I've had to resort to overpriced Panda Express and the like on campus. Luckily, my girlfriend lives really close to campus so I can use her fridge if needed.

Things that make my life way easier:
Costco/Sam's Club membership. (Foster Farms chicken, salmonella be damned)
Glassware with snap-on lids
Small icechest in my car
Crockpot and Traeger

But for the days I'm commuting, I like to bring:
Peanut butter and crackers / zip-lock of trail mix / protein bar
Apple or some fruit that can hold up in a backpack
Workout days I bring a shaker cup with whey in it. Just add water, brotein.
Sandwich or whatever

Things I cook to bring (generally bulk cook on the weekends):
Salmon and rice (Wild salmon can be pricy for a college budget. The canned stuff from Costco is decent)
Pulled pork and sweet potatoes (pulled pork in a crock pot is pretty much fire-and-forget all day)
Chicken stir fry

I try to bring food that doesn't spoil quickly bit it's hard sometimes so I just bring an ice pack. I bring a lot of fruit and fruit cups as well as different types of bread from trader joes or wherever. I also have a costco box of cup noodles and chips in my car in case I ever forget to being lunch. I wonder if it would make sense to freeze the dinner portion so it'll thaw by that time ?

Gee, I'm over here eatin' big plates. You premeds starving haha -_-

Thanks for e advice all! I usually have a PB&J and some fruit/granula bars, along with some peanuts + choco chips but was looking to upgrade

bananas, apples and oranges are clutch
spaghetti with meat and sauce is great
sandwiches (maybe roast beef. i tried egg sandwiches and they got soggy)
salad with dressing
peanut butter sandwiches don't really fill you up so if you're doing that then make like 3
chips

Grape jelly is extremely solid, but kind of like that first blonde you dated in college who turned out to be crazy. The long term term choice is the brunette, aka strawberry jelly.

Good memories. She was absolutely psycho. You're dead wrong on this one though tony

I usually cook a day's meals the night before.
Seal it in 3-4 tupperware cases in a coolbox.

Oh and Nutella >>> Grape > Strawberry

Nutella is definitely next-level rad

Excellent bagel topper (next-level breakfast maneuver)

One half bagel: peanut butter, other half: Nutella. Combine to form bagel sandwich. Great breakfast, or greatest?

I'm a big fan of the Nutella-PB sandwich; it really sticks to your ribs. With jellys, grape is always solid, but I'm also really partial to apple butter.

Let me tell you, a Nutella-apple butter sandwich tastes like caramel apple pie. It's the weirdest and bestest.

Dip a cold banana in warm Nutella. Kind of like a bluth banana from Arrested Development.
You'll thank me later.

If y'all like Nutella and have a Trader Joe's nearby, check out their Cookie Butter + Cocoa swirl spread. The cocoa part tastes like Nutella, and cookie butter is amazing. Together = heaven!

If using crunchy peanut butter, definitely top tier

I've always been a creamy PB guy, myself.

ARE YOU SAYING IT'S LIKE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH.

Because if it is, that sounds like it descended from the heavens.

Sounds pretty amazing, but maybe too sweet for me. On the other hand, I ate a lot of rice krispies treats cereal in college - can only find it at walmart now though, go figure.

This is the greatest thread I've read in weeks.

+1 Damn that made me laugh.
