MDApps is full of ****. I've met so many pre-med kids in my life, both as an undergraduate and a graduate student, and I have never heard of anyone scoring above a 34. And yet, every other person on MDApps is applying with a 34+ with crazy ECs.

Like everything in life, take with a grain of salt.

I remember meeting a pre-med girl at the bar, and she was like "I got a 38!"

Then I knew... out of my league.

I know this guy who went from getting <4 on AAMC sections to scoring 30+ on every remaining AAMC. That transition occured in 2 weeks.

honestly not telling the truth on their apps would piss me off. only becuz ive slaved over so many hours and missed important time with friends/family! 😡

Everyone embellishes, deal with it. Blame the adcoms, blame the gunners, blame World of Warcraft, I don't care, but its part of the game. You gotta embellish as much as you can, but only enough to get away with it.

I doubt it matters much the hours on you list on your AMCAS and I doubt that how many hours you do can really be the difference in getting an interview or not. If anything, it's your essays and stats that will get you the interview. If you can't articulate what you did and what you gained from them, it doesn't matter how many hours you did. Once you get to the interview level, I'm sure it is easy to tell who is genuine and who is not and that's when those that exagerrate within reasonable means probably get caught and get the boot by adcoms.

However, I do think it's reasonable to estimate on your application and I think most adcoms know people are estimating. As long your about +/- 30 hours of the actual I don't think it really matters and it certainly won't be the tipping factor of your application.

Haha that thread was an easy enough find... Friendship status: ruined.

It's a good thing AMCAS doesn't ask for height/weight, or else there would be a whole lot more lying (especially by female applicants)...
