M1 MedMatch Essentials?

I had a guy tell me that the essentials are: First Aid for Step 1, and MedMatch (Medical School and the Residency Match, a first aid for the hidden curriculum), and an anatomy atlas (Netters).

What I don't get is what he is referring to for "Residency Match, a first aid for the hidden curriculum)"

Is this a book? Could someone send a link?

Why? I wish I would have read through the relevant first aid chapters as we were covering them in class. It probably would have made the transition to studying for step go much more smoothly.

I loved seeing my classmates "study" out of first aid for first year exams. WTF are you going to learn from a concise list of points derived from things you should have learned properly the first time? Without context first aid is mind blowingly boring and can be a waste of time. Use it as it should be used, as a guide to the highest yield concepts that you already know and need to refresh.

A lot, actually. There are a ton of helpful mnemonics, decent explanations/illustrations, etc. It's not like you're studying from boards from day 1, but it really helps to solidify/clarify main concepts that are essential for success. FA served me very very well this year.

I personally found first aid to be very helpful in my MS1 studies... And much of my class carried it around lol. But maybe that is just our curriculum? Anyway I thought it was handy for some key associations/trigger words and also just focusing my studying to the high yield stuff. Basically I used it as a basic outline for what to study hard and know through and through and what may be just what was needed to pass that particular section.
