Hey guys, I just got interested in this field. I am wondering what are my chances to match. Don't care about location.

I'm an M3. Broke 240 on Step 1 but just barely, I know that isn't what it used to be 🙁
Got just a PASS in surgery as it was my first rotation. I don't have much extracurriculars or research, but I have easy rotations coming up in a few months.

Any advice?

step 1 > 240 is very good, unlikely you would have problems there (i.e. being screened out). Probably should try to branch out to get involved in some research (at your home department preferably) or somewhere nearby. You can try to ask some of the residents and fellows which are good attendings to work with in terms of productivity, projects and then down the road who may be a good LOR writer. Use the easy rotations coming up to build some contacts now before it gets tougher and next year rolls in
