I'm confused as to what these acronyms stand for. i know ph.d stands for doctor in philosophy, but what about MA, MS and BA, BS? are the MA's/BA's given out by business schools and BS/MS given out by schools of arts and sciences?

BA=Bachelor of Arts (requires less hours in major than BS)
BS=Bachelor of Science (requires more hours in major than BA)
MA=Master of Arts (usually one year long)
MS=Master of Science (usually two years long)
MBA=Master of Business Administration

BA and BS require the same amount of total hours.
The difference atleast at my school is that
BA~40 hours in major.
BS~60 hours in major.

Thanks. I made it clearer.

Nope: that reasoning does not apply at my school. Only a few majors offer a B.S. at my school. And it sucks b/c then you get people like the one above who generalize their experience to everyone elses.

I think for my school the BS requires coursework in research methods and such. I'm not totally sure though.

The important thing is that it really doesn't matter
