Recently, I decided to take a year off to pursue a Master's. However, I am currently debating between a Master of the Arts or Master of The Sciences. I was wondering if one is distinctly advantageous over the other?? Furthermore, if it actually matters what the topic of your masters is as long as it is related in someway to the medical sciences.

Thanks!!!!

Neither one will make or break your application, but make sure you do well because poor grades CAN hurt you. The research opportunity while completing your masters (if any) can help you quite a bit, but it is possible to get this experience with or without a masters. If you are interested in a subject you want to get a masters in, feel free to pursue it, whether or not it is related to science or medicine. Your time might be better spent, however, if med school admissions / application enhancement is your primary reason for wanting to pursue a masters.:luck:

Thank you for the response! I currently attend WSU and am planning to go there for medical school. They have a few programs which I am interested in, however, some of the program requirements are not necessarily clear cut. My interests are in the Nutritional Sciences and I already have 3 years of experience in research a lab that I plan to maintain. From your response, my understanding is that a Masters would not be impressive as continuing the research and getting more publications?
