I recently got a job offer to work as a MA for a private practice as well as a CRC at a large hospital. For context, I'm a senior taking two gap years before medical school. I did research over the last few summers and currently have three publications in clinical research (1 of which is first author) and also have some poster presentations. I also have some clinical experience (?) from my research experience where I interviewed patients in the hospital. The CRC position offers some patient interaction (through studies) and potential for publications, and the MA position offers clinical experience. I was just wondering what job path would be more helpful for me during med school applications.

Unless you have other clinical experience, take the MA role. Interviewing patients as part of research is research, not clinical experience

I do agree with the above - you have enough research for an MD app. Do want to ask if the large hospital is tied with a med school?

Also, if one pays more than the other, take the better paying job. Two years of money is awesome to pay off any debt, save, and invest in 401k/Roth before you go back to making no money.

It is tied with a med school, but I'm not sure if that would help me get into that med school (?) Thanks for your reply!

There are never any guarantees with this process but since you'll be there two years, you can network and hopefully make connections with physicians in close contact with the med school. Just a thought!
