Magic wand make these go away...(poll)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

With my magic wand, I would make the following posts disappear forever...

  • What are my chances? (esp. those with 40 MCAT and 3.9 GPA)

    Votes: 367 70.8%
  • What classes should I take, I know this has been answered before, but I am different

    Votes: 195 37.6%
  • Which school should I pick? eg Harvard on a full ride or Unaccredited U?

    Votes: 237 45.8%
  • Questions easily answered if the OP would open an MSAR

    Votes: 161 31.1%
  • Questions easily answered if the OP would go to google

    Votes: 168 32.4%
  • other (specify)

    Votes: 35 6.8%

  • Total voters
    518
Oooo...good one Flop. Can't wait for you to finish entering the poll choices so I can place my vote! 👍

consider it done - I hereby vow to never again make a poll with the word wand in it.

can i vote for all? 🙄

Hee! Thank you for making multiple choices possible!
I am indecisive, and can never decide, plus this is a silly little SDN poll, and the results are not going to be published. Why not allow multiple choices!

I too vote for all, and I also vote for a system of punishment for all those who continue to post such postssssss.

don't you dare say the poop thread don't you dare say it all

"other": I got a B+ in organic chemistry, did I blow my chances to get into med school??

What would I get rid of?

Easy--

All posts by High Schoolers.

I consider these a subset of the "what are my chances with my 40 MCAT and 3.9 GPA" people.

I really hate it when people ask others to decide which school to go to for them. If you can't figure out which school you liked better when you visited them and would rather rely on anonymous people to make that call for you, then you are clearly way too indecisive.

other: "I'm in high school. Where should I go to college?"

I sorta don't mind the "What are my chances" threads started by people who really clearly don't know and were naiive enough to think that a bunch of on-line premed students could advise them as if they know better.

The posts I'd get rid of are any that make it pretty clear that people are pursuing medicine because their goal is to become rich. 😴

And Why do you want to be a doctor? Come on folks, no one here gives a flying **** about why one of us decided to become a doctor, it's a decision that everyone here made. Write your own PS. Or if you really need help....just ASK instead of dressing it up in as an inquisitive facade.

Got it, the "what speciality should I pursue to be become a millionaire most quickly".

I vote "other" - I don't like posts containing polls

EDIT:

Other annoying posts are the ones about misdemeanor crimes and if it blows their chances... like "I got caught masturbating to the Price is Right in Best Buy and it was only a misdemeanor but will it affect my chances?"

How about "Questions easily answered if they would use the d@mn search"
Is that Vin Diesel on your avatar? Babe. Total Babe.

Here's a few:
-private versus public schools
-Harvard w/full ride vs. Hopkins w/full ride vs. WUSTL w/full ride vs. Yale vs. X,Y and Z and it's may 14th and I've kept 9 people out of medical school because of my multiple acceptances
-Will someone read my PS?
-How does AMCAS work?
-Are there any (insert plea for racial stereotypes) premeds out there???!?

Basically most of the posts on the forum

If you were beating off thinking about Bob Barker, then yes, no med school for you.

Seriously, no BS and this is not a subtle poke in the ribs to the OP, I would make polls disappear.

Basically any thread by someone who doesn't lurk for atleast five minutes and starts the same thread as one in the first two pages.

WHY wasn't this an option? When I first posted, I searched years of old threads before I asked.

All Hail Anastasis!! This is the one that pisses me off the most. I wish the mods would post a sticky in every forum saying, "Use the freakin' search function, b*tch! Thank you and happy posting!" 😎

Pet peeves of bmlhrb:
-hw questions ("can anyone help me with physics?" NO)
-a new thread with almost identical subject as a recent one
-threads started to pick a fight (unless very funny)
-loud chewing

all posts that ask:

"what answer should I use for this interview question..."

doesn't getting rid of these kind of defeat the purpose of SDN, especially for newcomers?

other: any thread where the original post takes like 45 minutes to read. what makes people think i'm ACTUALLY gonna read what they have to write? keep the posts short. i've never read a post longer than like 10 lines.

1. Does it matter if I didn't go to Harvard? (or similar)

2. Will CC credits hurt me? (use the search!!!!)

3. Any [ethnic group] pre-meds here?

4. Board scores. You're a PRE-MED, don't worry about it yet - tackle the MCAT first!

5. Lifestyle questions. Seriously, decide on a specialty in med school, THEN worry about it.

6. What Anastasis said.

Honestly, even worse than the "any (insert ethnicity) pre-meds out there?" threads are the ones trying to originally make fun of them. Yeah, you're only the 2934872th person to make a "any white male pre-meds out there? *laugh*" thread. That and I hate it when people start a thread/poll just to start a thread. Like "how tall is the tallest person in your class?"

But the most annoying thing on SDN is when people claim others are going to make bad doctors because they drink, smoked pot, have premarital sex, made spelling errors in the post, want to have a career they enjoy that also affords them a decent lifestyle, and even (gasp!) use old tests to study for exams. and I realize this isn't a thread-starting pet peeve, but I had to say it.

forgot one: the picture threads annoy me, too. Every girl trying to get guys to drool over her picture gets old after a while. Whew, I'm done. Sorry for the rant.

There's a similar thread to this one going on over in the allo forum, for anyone who's interested.

my personal pet peeves, although they don't show up as often lately, are the "I drew a picture of a tree in an art class...since a tree is part of botany, will AMCAS consider this part of my BCPM?" threads.

"What college should I pick?"

The high school students need to get off of SDN and have a little bit of a life, honestly.... Don't they have parents and advisors? And how the hell should we know whether UCLA or Stanford will give them the best chance of getting into Harvard for med school? :meanie:

You're going to be a terrible doctor if you get annoyed that easilly.

I agree with this one.

Also, Crazy_Cavalier, awesome avatar!

not like it matters anyways...any of those high schoolers that are so cracked out at such a young and clueless age will all burn out long before they even get around to taking the mcat, so no school will get them into med school :meanie:

Also the I'm a pre-med fetus...What pre-school should I attend.

LOL at this!

I think my pick for most annoying threads are the ones that go, "Oh ****, I got into Harvard AND Hopkins AND Yale! HEELLLLPPPP!!!"
