Quick question; When determining the direction of the magnetic force acting on a moving negative charge, your thumb should be directed in the direction opposite the charge's velocity. should the the thumb's direction also be switched when determining the direction of the magnetic field due to a negative charge?

Could you please explain your question? Do you mean positive charge in your last sentence? Because it seems like you're asking the same question. (what should the thumb direction be for negative charge)

Just in case you're still not clear:

Thumb always points from positive to negative and nothing else gets changed.

If you're given a negative charge, you change the direction but don't change B or F
