Maintaining Basic Science Knowledge?

This is a question for those of you in a Md/PhD program in which the PhD work is done after the basic science years and before clinical rotations. Does your program have any requirements to assure you retain the basic science knowledge you need for rotations? Also, does your program have any clinical requirements of you while you are working on your PhD?

I cannot answer your second question, but in your first question, you can still do research as a 3rd and 4th year. Therefore you can still play with all those fun basic science stuff and retain your knowledge.

Most of the MSTP's here are pretty much bunkered up in their cave during their PhD component. So i don't believe there are clinical requirements. There are probably med school series clinical "exposure" type classes which you can take though. However you can solve that whole issue by doing translational research where basic science is tied into clinical. So you can have your cake and eat it too!
