Just got certified this year (yay). Now the hamster wheel of MOC begins.

Question about the CME requirement. I know we are required 300 CME every 10 years as well as 80 CME from SAE every 10 years (8 per year).

For the SAE requirement, is this only possible through the $99 SAE-P that are sold by the AAPMR or can you just do a bunch of the free case studies, etc?

These guys (ABPMR and AAPMR) have really created the self licking ice cream cone, all roads lead to paying them more money.

Has anyone decided to tell MOC to go pound sand? I'm really thinking about it if I continue to grow my concierge practice. My board doesn't really get me anything anyway. Plus I have a 2 year old and have PLENTY on my plate. Who has time to study or jump through their stupid hoops?

I did.

I gave up my cert when they changed the MOC rules AFTER I had taken (and passed) the recert exam and done adequate CME. Apparently my "Project" wasn't sufficient (it was 6 months earlier when I started it).

Since I will not be moving, I just gave it up. All I did was change my letterhead to FAAPMR instead of Board Certified. More and more people in non-academic practices are doing so in all specialties. The ABMS is a joke. What was even worse is that if I had finished ONE year earlier, I'd have lifetime certification.

yup. I know it is cheesy, but so what. I am still listed as a fellow

You are my new hero!! I was told that my PMR cert expires in 2014 and my Pain cert expires in 2015. I am not eligible to only take Pain in 2015 because i took my PMR one year earlier. So I would have to take both. Or as was said on the pain forum, I can just practice pain as a CRNA.

there is a groundswell of support with a possible class action against ABMS on this whole MOC thing. About restraint of trade. An Endocrinologist in my town who just moved here from Florida is involved in it. Basically suggesting that we need to do EITHER MOC or maintenance of License but not both

Well my state license is obviously needed to work.....my board certification seems to be less useful every day(to me anyway).....I understand it's useful as revenue to pay for someone's salary.

Anyone know an easy "practice improvement" that meets MOC requirements? Maybe something online or pay to play...

SAE-P used to available free w Q/A now appears you cant just review the old Q&A without having to pay for it. (after 2010 changed over the the academe section). Am I missing something?
